The Bear-Nurse

The bear is not a circus element and it performs in separate shows. As compared to the official circus, the bear featuring shows (a single bear, not several bears) still keeps the appearance of an improvisation.

As compared to the official circus that makes the crowds gather, in this case the spectators are only a few. Besides, none of them seems to show admiration or amazement. Even more, one of them seems to have lost interest because he does not look at the show.

Although the repertory is pretty much diverse – the bear dances Charleston, does Greek-Roman struggling, plays the role of the nurse – the props are minimum (a pram, in our case). The stage is improvised and he safety measures are minimum (both for the spectators, whose small benches are located within the very area of the show performance and for the tamer, who is shown in a photo when he receives the bear’s «kiss » (the bear does not wear a muzzle!). In all theses shows, the bear seems to get humanized. When he plays the role of the nurse, he becomes very careful, when fighting, the violence is always simulated. The bear has lost the aggressiveness of the wild animal; he was tamed.
